We Matter…

Markham Arts Council is a charitable not-for-profit organization with the mission of enriching the lives of Markham residents through arts and cultural programming and activities. Our mission is to leverage the community’s overall well-being by promoting our local arts and culture. 

1. Supporting local small businesses by leveraging the arts for economic development.

2. Working with the community to identify gaps and providing relevant and meaningful support to vulnerable groups such as seniors to assist with physical, mental, and emotional well-being

3. Developing tourism and events- collaborating with local initiatives and developing cultural events to bring in tourists and establish Markham’s cultural identity. 

4. Job opportunities for Artists- providing work, mentorship and performance opportunities to artists from underrepresented groups including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, rural, and lower-income artists.
